Kent residents will have to wait until fall for Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks Park to reopen. City officials closed the park to allow construction of a new flood-control dam at the park. The goal of the dam will be to control flooding of downtown streets during major storms.

Kent Police were still looking Monday for a gunman in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old Renton boy. The youth reportedly was shot in the head during an argument among more than 20 young men Saturday evening at a fast-food restaurant on the 300 block of East Smith Street.
