Early college is topic of open house

Prospective students and their families are invited to learn about Highline Community College’s Puget Sound Early College at several open house events running 6:30-8 p.m. July 16 and Aug. 14 at the college’s Federal Way campus.

The Highline program gives high-school juniors and seniors an opportunity to earn a high-school diploma and credits toward an associate of arts degree simultaneously and tuition-free. There are costs for student fees, books, and supplies.

The hands-on curriculum focuses on the school’s theme of environmental and social justice and gives students an opportunity to apply what they are learning to help their communities.

During an open house, prospective students — those who plan to enter the 11th grade in fall 2008 — and their families will see the Early College campus, observe a presentation on the program, review admissions materials and participate in a question-and-answer session.

Open houses will take place at the college’s Federal Way campus, located at 33320 1st Way S., Building A. For information, call 253-943-4000.
