Palin attacks come from both sides

I feel compelled to write in reply to our beleaguered and abused conservative friend Lynn Seegmiller, (“Palin attack standard liberal issue,” July 22 Kent Reporter.)

I think the focus of media has been pretty fairly distributed as of late. Of course poor Sarah Palin has been the focus of media scrutiny; she welcomed it the minute she agreed to be McCain’s vice president and his answer to “How do I get the female vote?”

I also am amazed at what a short memory Lynn has. I remember a certain liberal by the name of Bill Clinton who was raked over the coals concerning his affair by the “liberal” press and, of course, Congress.

Maybe we shouldn’t mention that several of the most vociferous and outraged conservative Congressmen have been since found to have had affairs and other misadventures since that time. More of that media bias, I guess. The fact that a government official has any sort of legal cloud over their head should draw some concern and further questioning.

These accusations of abuse of power are not new for Sarah Palin and come from both sides of the political fence. I would also venture to guess that both the press and many people in the general public are a bit tired of politicians who cannot speak correctly and speak without thinking. Eight years was enough of that.

As for David Letterman, it was indeed a stupid joke and he even messed up the delivery but he is a comedian and not a member of the press the last I checked. I am an independent voter, by the way, and I don’t blindly vote down party lines, I like to vote for intelligent, well-spoken individuals who share many of my ideals.
