In reading the recent Voter’s Pamphlet that came to my home, I was surprised to read that Councilmember Elizabeth Albertson has listed her occupation as executive director of Communities in Schools of Kent. This simply is not true! She was relieved of her position on June 25, 2009.
The King County Elections website (http://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200908/2009CandidateManual.pdf) (page 28) it states that the candidates have until Augu. 21, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. to submit a candidate statement and photo for inclusion in the General Election Pamphlet.
Isn’t it the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that the information in the pamphlet is correct? Do we want Council members misleading with the information published in the pamphlet? Will they then mislead us in their position of leadership? I recognize that the candidates – and specifically the current Kent City Council members have many things to do – one of which is to provide the voter’s with the most up-to-date, and CORRECT information.
I see that Ms. Albertson’s opponent Geoff Koepp took the time to revise his statement from the one originally published in the pamphlet for the primary elections. In fact, his statement between the primary and general election voters’ pamphlets is a complete rewrite.
I wonder why Ms. Albertson didn’t feel it was necessary to ensure that her information was correct. Is she “using” a well-respected local non-profit organization to “boost” her resume?
