Support our schools, vote yes on bond

Our children in Kent and Covington spend several hours every day in public school buildings.

Our children in Kent and Covington spend several hours every day in public school buildings. In the evenings and on weekends the buildings host community events. Have you ever stopped to wonder how these buildings, that are so important to the life of our community, came to exist?

Over several decades, with careful planning and good financial management, one by one, these critical facilities were constructed. Previous residents of our area voted to tax themselves in order to pay for these buildings. Thanks to the investments made by previous generations, we all reap the benefits today.

Our area continues to grow, and our community buildings continue to need maintenance in order to protect their value and usefulness. Now it is our responsibility.

By mailing in our yes votes by April 26, we will replace the expiring school bond issue with a new bond issue, at the same tax rate. I encourage all voters to help preserve our investment, our property values and our quality of life.

– Dennis Higgins, Kent City Councilmember
