Show leadership, other options for new police HQ

Proposition A failed. No one in Kent wants our police force to have substandard facilities, equipment and training. What we do want is political leadership.

Proposition A failed. No one in Kent wants our police force to have substandard facilities, equipment and training. What we do want is political leadership.

Thirty-three million (34 million minus 1 million for the jail) dollars divided by 48,000 square feet is $687.50 per square foot. That is what our leaders want us to pay for this building.

According to the website, thecommercialrealestatespecialists.com, the commercial construction cost per square foot in Seattle is $170. Does anyone else see a problem here?

Even if the statistics from this website are outdated and the cost is double, $340 per foot is almost 50-percent less than our leaders want us to pay.

Show some political leadership. Create some new, less expensive options. Choose one that is reasonable in cost and put that before the voters. If you do, I will vote for it and I’m sure other citizens will, too.
