After reading the article about spending $3 million to make downtown Kent train quiet, I felt the need to comment.
I’m sure the builder of the new apartment complex would prefer to sell units that are not next to railroad tracks, but they are.
Are these the same developers that are being given a tax break to build in Kent?
That’s OK, we will just raise our residents’ taxes.
So now we have developers destroying land to build more homes, causing the noise level on the East Hill to change from a quiet neighborhood to being able to hear traffic, sirens and yes, train horns at a level equal to city living. These developers also break up the roads and repair them poorly.
If you live near railroad tracks, you will have train horns. If you live near an airport, you will have plane noise.
Let’s use that $3 million to address the homeless issue or the road repairs or one of a million other needs.
And if you don’t want train noise, don’t live near a train.
