Mayor’s comments not welcome – snowplows are

Array

I just got my copy of the Kent Reporter and after spending a week quietly being disgusted about road quality (or a significant lack thereof) I can hold it in no more. Really Mayor Cooke? the roads are so good that you have been complimented? REALLY? Clearly we all need to move to that street, because there hasn’t been a plow or sand truck on my road for at least ONE WEEK! I have people routinely getting stuck in the cul-de-sac below my house; I have a UPS driver who has to make three attempts at the 2 percent grade in front of my house (at approximately 65 mph). Cars are bottoming out on my road because the snow is that high. Now certainly you must think that I live out on a farm or logging road or some such; nope about two blocks from Horizon Elementary School.

To be clear, the folks out plowing have a hard job then with the slew of folks out driving who should not be, that makes it all the more difficult. I get that main roads are critical, but a full week without a plow? Apparently if we have an events center around us we can get the Mayors attention otherwise we get to sit and wait for the rain. To the folks who have been plowing, thanks. If I see you I will thank you personally, even with hot chocolate and homemade cookies. Really. To Mayor Cooke please just sit in your office in the ShoWare Center and be quiet. I would have preferred you just said that the Public Works teams are working really hard than the idiotic comments you made. I truly hope others took offense too.
