Over the past few years, guns have had a big effect on America and the world.
Some examples: the Las Vegas shooting, the nightclub shooting in Florida, the attack on Paris, recent school shootings and those in some of our neighborhoods.
Guns are dangerous and need to be controlled. I believe the law on gun control should be limited and changed.
Gun control law states, “Gun control laws regulate the possession and purchase of firearms, including the types of guns that may be owned, waiting periods required for purchase, and classification of persons who are prohibited from owning firearms.” I feel this law should be changed.
Most of the gun-related incidents either include people who bought guns from the gun store, stole a gun, made a gun or smuggled it without being caught. The gun law should add this: “Persons who have committed crime, have been to jail or prison cannot own a gun.”
Many people who are in jail or prison are there because of what they did with guns. If a person went to jail for shooting and killing someone, they shouldn’t have the right to buy a gun.
In addition, the law should be changed to make it even more difficult for those with previous gun offenses to own a firearm.
The gun control law needs to be more controlled. President Trump is definitely not doing anything to change it, so I feel the city of Kent should come together and make something happen.
