Joe Fain the more reliable, trustworthy candidate for senate seat

With the election right around the corner, I’d like to remind the public that candidates are actually permitted to lie about their opponents under Washington State law. In a recent television commercial Sen. Kauffman implies that her opponent, Joe Fain, supports a new income tax on small businesses but gives no evidence whatsoever to support this. I shouldn’t be surprised because in my personal interaction with her I found her to be evasive and defensive, and I don’t trust her.

While discussing education issues with Kauffman, she wouldn’t answer me on how she voted even though I asked her a total of four times. For a publicly elected official to refuse to be forthright with her constituents was unacceptable to me. Then to hear a friend find her equally evasive when they were discussing a completely different issue, I came to the conclusion that this may be commonplace for her. However, I’m looking for a senator that can be honest with me even if it’s an answer I might not want to hear.

I’m not naïve enough to think that there is a candidate out there whom I would agree with on everything. However, at least with Joe Fain I can trust him to tell me the truth. And if he feels he has to vote in a way that I wouldn’t support, I know that I would get an honest explanation that would make sense.

I’m familiar with Joe Fain’s run for the State Senate, and I know he is the real pro-small business, anti-tax candidate in the race. Kauffman spent her four years in Olympia being a reliable liberal vote and played a large part in getting us into this current fiscal crisis. I’m excited to watch Fain help to get us out of this crisis and am confident that with his experience, dedication and honesty that he’s the best choice.

Fain has been endorsed by several fellow pro-jobs candidates, and has received the endorsement of several small business associations (NFIB, Realtors, Washington Retail Association, Washington Restaurant Association, Association of Builders and Contractors) which represent the hundreds of small businesses in the 47th District struggling to get this economy off the ground.

I want someone to fix the mess in Olympia, and that’s why I’m voting for Fain in November. It’s time to give someone else a shot at helping us get this financial crisis under control. And I hope the public is too smart to fall for Sen. Kauffman’s “it must be true, it’s on television” campaign strategy. I trust the voters will research these opponents and know the difference by the time ballots are counted. As a small business owner and an education advocate, I’m putting my faith in Joe Fain.
