Reading about the saga of Kent and marijuana is like the joke about the man on his rooftop in a flood. He turns down three chances to get help, but is waiting for God to provide for him, and eventually drowns.
I think of this every time I read about taxing people for our roads, and many more, when you had the opportunity to provide money for much needed projects.
The sale of marijuana will happen, and when it does you will see that all of this fuss was for nothing. You will see the money that could have helped this city, but you turned away for your own personal reasons. If you think this makes Kent look “good” compared to cities allowing it, you are wrong. We appear ignorant for not realizing the economic help we could have.
When history is written, you will be remembered for not having faith in our city’s citizens, thinking we will ruin the children and won’t conduct business properly.
Thank you for overriding the peoples’ vote, and putting Kent into a problem area.
