I appreciate that the City Council is seeking answers to stuck railroad crossing gates. How about looking into another real problem … the East Hill Post Office on 240th?
In the eight years I’ve lived here, many times I have stood in a line of 12 or more residents waiting to conduct business and have seen clerks close their windows and go on breaks, leaving only one clerk and a growing line of customers.
In 2015 the lobby was locked on evenings and weekends. Still is. The drive-up mailbox was vandalized in September 2016, removed and has still not been replaced.
How many accidents and fender benders from parking lot traffic jams must occur before there will be action or the drive-up mailbox replaced? That driveway is closed off with barrels and cones as I write this.
Someone associated with the City of Kent must use this post office. I now go the Auburn Post Office, so I don’t go postal. And, by the way, the lobby there is open 24/7/365. What a concept, providing customer service to the taxpayers.
