Downtown post office is needed

Letter to Ken Lieu, at the Western Facilities Service Office of the U.S. Postal Service:

Dear Mr. Lieu,

Number one, I am thinking about the seniors in the community.

We often utilize the downtown station for money orders and stamps. The station is used for the mailing of packages, also the mailing of Christmas packages.

Concerning P.O. boxes: many depend on these.

Kent is becoming a very busy area. Such as ShoWare events center, Kent Station, shoppers, car-parking lots, bus depot, a soon-to-be hotel; and there is a Green River College campus with additional buildings and stores to come.

Also, let us not forget the library and senior housing nearby. Where are the seniors going to go for their convenience?

Metro senior shuttle leaves them close by the post office – this all equals people passing through the area.

Perhaps there is a need to advertise more, and more frequently, through the postal clients listed in the area.

Also, the downtown station is very convenient for others who work in the area at lunch to pick up, or mail, their needs, including the criminal-justice building, and including the lawyers’ day-to-day mailings.

Lastly, not excluding the East Hill businesses who depend at times for picking up parcels and packages.

I realize your mind set is in real estate, and perhaps the selling of the building, but again the people of the community need a centrally located area for Kent, 98032.
