What right does the City Council have to take property that belongs to the citizens and sell it to pay off debts?
The parks were bought with money authorized by the citizens, and they should be asked to vote on the sale of such.
What’s next? Clark Lake? It’s time Kent invested in things that make a city great. Trees are not enough.
The nine-hole, Par 3 golf course should not be sold. Kent should turn the golf course into a park, providing recreation facilities for the apartments that exist in the area now and the community.
The Kent Crusaders could use a permanent rugby field. There is a need for grass ball fields for children from the apartments to play on.
Kent should hire college students to organize activities, mow the grass and do maintenance. Maybe the children could be involved. They might take care of things that they have an investment in.
An inexpensive backstop and some bare spots marking the ball diamond would suffice. How about a game of workup, choosing up sides for a game? Cones could be set up, marking boundaries and goals for soccer or football.
