Joe Wicks
Mr. Joseph P. Wicks passed away in Seattle on September 12, 2010 at 96 years of age. Joe spent almost his entire life in the Seattle and Maple Valley areas with his beloved wife Hester (Larsen) Wicks, who preceded him in death. Together they raised three children; Joseph Wicks, John Wicks, and Susan Villyard, plus numerous grand- children and great-grandchildren. Joe had a thousand stories about growing up in early Seattle, and each of his friends heard them all at least a thousand times. A natural-born ace mechanic, Joe could tune or fix anything with an engine – from riding along as the on-board mechanic in race cars, to repairing heavy equipment. His mechanical skills got him sent to Alaska during WWII to help build the Alaska Highway, and he spent the rest of his career in heavy construction and trucking. On Saturday, October 2 at 11:00 AM, a closed-casket burial service will be held for Joe at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.
