Kent Police recover 8 stolen vehicles in vacant field behind Lowe’s

Vehicles stolen in Renton, Federal Way, Kirkland and other areas

Kent Police recovered eight stolen vehicles from a muddy, vacant field behind the Lowe’s Home Improvement store in the 3100 block of South 240th Street on the West Hill.

A 911 call on Monday, Nov. 6 reported a stolen vehicle in a field behind Lowe’s, just west of Interstate 5 and east of Pacific Highway South.

Officers arrived and discovered numerous unoccupied stolen vehicles, according to a Nov. 7 Kent Police statement. Officers set up stop sticks and perimeter units to dissuade anyone watching from trying to jump in a car to flee.

“They then went to work figuring out how to extract them from the muddy field, gather evidence and get them back to their owners,” according to police.

Eight vehicles were found, including one hidden under a tarp. All of the stolen vehicles were taken from cities and counties in Western Washington, according to police. The owners have been contacted.

A list of the vehicles recovered:

• 2000 Dodge Ram 2500, stolen in Renton

• 2008 BMW 328, reported stolen to Washington State Patrol, registered in Renton

• 1998 Dodge Ram 2500, stolen in King County

• U-Haul car hauler trailer, stolen in Federal Way

• 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, stolen in Federal Way

• 2002 Ford F-350, stolen in Snohomish County

• Install a car alarm

• Park in well-lit occupied areas

• Hide an Air tag type device inside

• Use a club steering wheel device

• If you see someone lurking near parked cars, call 911
