Kent Police Blotter: Oct. 30 to Nov. 9

Incidents include robberies, burglaries, threat with a weapon

A sampling of Kent Police incidents Oct. 30 to Nov. 9:

Oct. 30

Apartment robbery: 3:17 p.m., officers responded to the Alderbrooke Apartments, 412 Novak Lane, to the report of a robbery. The juvenile victims reported that five to six suspects had exited in two different vehicles and taken their phones, backpacks and shoes. Patrol responded and was able to locate one of the suspect vehicles and initiated a pursuit of the vehicle (listed as stolen), which was later terminated.

Oct. 31

Smokes Plus burglary: 3:30 a.m., officers responded to Smokes Plus, 1235 W. Meeker St. When officers arrived, they found the front doors forced in and a crowbar on the counter. Officers located the suspect nearby, and approximately $2,500 in products were returned to the store.

Nov. 3

Felony arrest: Officers were dispatched to a robbery at the Waterbrook Apartments, 10615 SE 250th Place, where an unknown male was at the back patio, holding a gun and demanding money. Officers arrived and located the suspect on the back side of the G building. He was holding a long bag, and the buttstock of a rifle could be seen sticking out of the bag. The suspect was uncooperative and did not follow commands. He eventually dropped the bag with the rifle but grabbed onto a metal railing and refused to get on the ground. He was pulled to the ground and detained. Officers arrested the man for investigation of several felonies.

Attempted robbery: 1:41 p.m., patrol responded to a robbery at West Hill Market, 24526 36th Ave. S. Two suspects entered the store and brandished a firearm. The clerk locked himself in the office away from the suspects. The video shows the suspects attempting to open the till and trying to get into the back office but fleeing after they are unsuccessful.

Nov. 4

Commercial burglary: 10:10 a.m., police responded to a burglary alarm at Convenience Solutions, 7066 S. 220th St. An employee arrived before police could, and the suspect fled. The suspect successfully stole three iPhones, four pads and a computer.

Robbery: 11:39 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Central Avenue N., referencing a robbery. The victim had been walking on Central Avenue when a vehicle stopped, and two people got out. The suspects pushed her to the ground and took her purse before fleeing in an SUV.

Nov. 5

Stolen vehicle: An officer was conducting a proactive patrol near Safeway, 210 Washington Ave. S., when a reported stolen vehicle out of Renton was located. The vehicle was unoccupied, and officers flooded the area to try and find a suspect. Officers reviewed the store’s video footage and could view the male suspect exiting the vehicle. The suspect was located and questioned, denying ever being inside the vehicle. A cellphone was in the stolen vehicle and was confirmed to be the suspect’s property.

Nov. 7

Threat with a weapon: Officers were dispatched to Signature Pointe Apartments, 25102 62nd Ave. S., for a report of a threat with a weapon. A security officer interrupted an attempted vehicle theft, and one of the suspects pulled a firearm and pointed it at him. The suspect was described as a light-skinned male wearing a surgical mask. The security officer used his cellphone to capture the suspect vehicles as they fled. One was a black Audi, and the other was a Chevrolet Equinox. The suspect with the firearm was inside the Chevrolet. About an hour later, an officer observed a black Audi and white Chevrolet near Kent Garden Apartments, 21926 84th Ave. S. One of the subjects was wearing a surgical mask and got into the Chevrolet. Officers followed the suspect vehicle as it got onto State Route 167. The suspect then took off, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit traveled through Kent to into Federal Way. The suspect vehicle was eventually lost as it entered northeast Tacoma.

T-Mobile robbery: 1:17 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at T Mobile, 24823 Pacific Highway S. Two masked subjects entered the store and held the employee at gunpoint. The employee was directed to open the till and unlock the phone cases; the suspects fled with several phones and approximately $500.

TJ Maxx robbery: 5:27 p.m., patrol responded to a robbery at TJ Maxx, 25406 104th Ave. SE. Security had confronted a shoplifter in the parking lot who then brandished a gun and, while slowly fleeing in their vehicle, struck the security officer (non-injury) and sprayed him with pepper spray.

Nov. 9

Attempted carjacking: 7:13 p.m., an attempted carjacking at the West Hill Fred Meyer, 25250 Pacific Highway S. The suspects, who fled in the vehicle they arrived in, had approached the victim and demanded her keys. When she initially refused, they pushed her to the ground and wrestled for the keys, with one of them brandishing a gun. The victim was able to run away from the suspects and into the business.
