A reopening date for the Kent Panther Lake Library remains unknown nearly five months after a vehicle crashed into the building.
“The reopening date is still unknown,” said Sarah Thomas, public relations specialist for the King County Library System, in a Sept. 21 email.
The impact of the vehicle against the building in the May 7 crash damaged the exterior wall and metal siding, emergency exit door, window next to the exit door and some of the roof trusses, Thomas said.
“The cost is still unknown,” Thomas said about an estimate for the repairs.
King County Library System leases the building. The property owner and JLL management company are handling the repairs and insurance claim, Thomas said.
A 37-year-old Kent man lost control of his vehicle and hit the west side of the building, 20500 108th Ave. SE, at about 2 a.m. May 7, according to Kent Police.
