Kent-based Puget Sound Fire distributes gifts to children in need

Part of the annual Toys for Joy program

Puget Sound Fire delivered gifts at Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. S., as part of its annual Toys for Joy program.

The delivery on Wednesday, Dec. 22 included 2,636 wrapped gifts, 1,077 stocking stuffers, 395 stuffed animals, 102 balls and 48 bikes, scooters and tricycles to children in need, according to Puget Sound Fire. The agency worked with Kent Food Bank to distribute the toys.

The Kent Firefighters Foundation partnered in the holiday drives that also included $30,000 in monetary donations and 36,500 pounds of food to benefit local food banks as part of the annual Jerry Woods Holiday Engine Food Drive.

“We cannot even begin to express our gratitude to our communities and local businesses for your generous donations and support for the Puget Sound Fire and Kent Firefighters Foundation holiday drives,” according to a Puget Sound Fire statement.
