Tom Quinn, lead guitarist for the tribute band playing the Jan. 21 ShoWare gig, described the quadraphonic sound system used on tour during a recent phone interview from his San Diego home.

Professional racers competed on motorcycles and four-wheel all-terrain vehicles around an oval track on the ice Dec. 18 at the Kent ShoWare Center, going from 0 to 60 mph in fewer than three seconds. Kent was one of 15 stops in the 2009-2010 World Championship Ice Racing Series.

World Championship Ice Racing Series comes to the ShoWare Center

Mix motorcycles and ice and what do you get? You’ll find out when the World Championship Ice Racing Series comes to the ShoWare Center 8 p.m. Dec. 18 in Kent. More than 30 professional racers will compete on motorcycles and four-wheel, all-terrain vehicles around an oval track on the ice. Racers can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds on the motorcycles and reach speeds of 50 mph on the all-terrain vehicles.

The Harlem Globetrotters are coming back to Kent 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the ShoWare Center. The Globetrotters sold out their basketball performance last February at the arena. The team performs basketball wizardry, hilarious antics and plenty of fan interaction.
