Flights depart from Hong Kong or\nGuangzhou to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Upon arrival, Dambulla Cave\nTemple, is the first destination. You can fully experience the artistic charm\nof this Buddhist country right here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dambulla is the largest and\nbest-preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka. Various Buddha statues and mural\npaintings are spread throughout the temple. The statue of Guatama Buddha is not\nto be missed. Visitors can feast their eyes on a space filled with religious\nart and Buddhist charm. Come and get a glimpse of the glamour at this World\nHeritage Site!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n On the way to Dambulla cave temple, a\ndazzling golden Buddha seated atop a hovering dragon can be seen from a far\naway distance. When climbing up the stone steps towards the pilgrimage, many\nhappy and cheerful monkeys will accompany you. Please remember to take off your\nshoes before you enter the temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After a long day of travel, you can have\na rest in Cassandra Culture Hotel. If you still feel energetic, a visit to\nMinneriya National Park might be just what you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Minneriya National Park is sure to\nimpress with its natural forests, lakes and large number of wild animals\nincluding elephants, foxes, snakes, deer, elks, lizards and Sri Lanka\njunglefowls, the national bird of Sri Lanka. Minneriya National Park is a\nperfect place to go off-roading and do some elephant watching. Toward\nnightfall, elephant herds will flock to the lakeside allowing you to experience\nthe harmony of nature at short range!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n DAY 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n After a good rest and breakfast, you can\ntravel to Sigiriya Lion Rock by car. Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress\nlocated in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla. Lion Rock is\nknown as the 8th<\/sup> Wonder of\nthe World and forms part of Sri Lanka\u2019s \u201cCultural Golden Triangle.\u201d Moreover,\nLion Rock is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. The name refers to a site of\narchaelogical and historical significance that is dominated by a massive column\nof rock. King Kasyapa built his palace on the top of this orange tinged rock\nand decorated its sides with colorful frescos. He built a gateway in the shape\nof an enormous lion on a plateau halfway up the side of this rock. The name of\nthis place is derived from this structure \u2013 Sigiriya Lion Rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s 377 meters in height from the\nGarden Square to the abandoned palace. And it\u2019s a strenuous climb from the rock\nup to the palace under the burning sun. All the hard work is worthwhile when\nyou finally reach the top of Lion Rock and are rewarded with a stunning view.\nYou can take everything in at a glance, like the well-proportioned Garden\nSquare, boundless lush jungles and undulating mountains in the Southeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n After a short break, you can set off to\nthe ancient city of Polonnaruwa. In 933 AD, Polonnaruwa became the capital of\nSri Lanka. Take in Brahmanism sites of the Cholas Period or explore relics in\nthe wonderful Garden City, which were built by King Palakra I and date back to\nthe 12th century. Be sure to check out ruins of the ancient city, a special\nsacrificial altar, a Sri Lankan classic pagoda and the stone Buddha statues\nbuilt along the wall. It\u2019s easy to lose track of time wandering the streets of\nthis ancient city!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n When night falls, the day’s journey is\nover. Treat yourself to a bonfire BBQ!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n DAY 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s time to visit the sacred city of\nKandy! There are a large number of architectural and cultural relics preserved\nhere, demonstrating the long history of Sri Lanka’s architectural arts that\ndate back 2,000 years. On our drive to Kandy, you will come across a spice\ngarden where you can discover exotic tropical plants and are taught about their\nvarious health remedies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Spending time at a spice garden is a\nfascinating educational experience if you like spices but don’t often see them\ngrowing wild. So why not take the chance to learn all about plants, herbs and\nspices in this lovely garden? Here you will gain a better understanding of the\nactive ingredients and medicinal properties that plants have to offer and also\npick up some ancient recipes for teas, infusions, creams and oils, which you\ncan later purchase on site. After lunch, you can check in at Earls Regent\nHotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Later on, you can set out to the Temple\nof the Tooth, a Buddhist temple located in the city of Kandy. The Temple\nof the Tooth is important to Buddhists as it is home to one of Buddha\u2019s teeth\nand attending an evening puja at the Temple of the Tooth is a must. Every\nevening there is a ceremony during which the tooth is taken out of its case for\ndevout Buddhists and visitors to see. Offerings of flowers are laid before the\nsacred tooth\u2019s chamber and prayers fill the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n When walking along the corridor and\nlooking up at the ceiling, you can see the grand occasion of the annual\nBuddha’s Day Festival being depicted. Climbing up the wooden stairs to the\nsecond floor, you can spot flowers offered in front of the Buddha statue, which\nseems to bear believers\u2019 hope for the good. You can also see pious Buddhists\nsitting on the floor and chanting lections. The chanting of lections pervades\nthe tranquil Temple of the Sacred Tooth, which makes the feeling of piety and\nsanctity arise spontaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n After visiting the temple, you can continue to do some shopping in Kandy and call it a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n DAY 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Day four is dedicated to good food and\nshopping. You will have a hard time deciding what to pick! Foodies may enjoy\ndelicious tropical fruits, fragrant curries or roti, a rustic flat bread made\nup of flour and grated coconut and served with spicy onion or chilli paste. Or\nwhy not bring home tea, essential oils and exotic handmade works of art from\nyour trip?<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Up next is a visit to the Royal\nBotanical Gardens or Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Built in 1371 AD, the\nBotanical Garden acted as the Kings’ royal garden. Today, more than 4,000\nplants, either native or imported, can be found in the garden. The tropical\nequatorial sunshine and Mediterranean climate of Kandy make the Botanic Garden\nlook like spring year round. Feast your eyes on lush plants and blooming\nflowers everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n If you visit Pinnawala Elephant\nOrphanage, you will have ‘zero distance contact’ with these massive creatures.\nBuilt by the Sri Lanka Wildlife Authority in 1975, the orphanage was founded to\ncare and protect the many orphaned unweaned wild elephants found wandering in\nand near the forests of Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Pinnawala has the largest herd of\ncaptive elephants in the world. Elephants living here receive kind and careful\ncare from humans. They regularly eat, bathe and occasionally help to carry\ntimber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n You can observe the bathing elephants\nfrom the broad river bank as the herd interacts socially, bathing and playing.\nVisitors to the park can view the care and daily routine of the elephants, such\nas bottle-feeding of elephant calves, feeding of all other elephants, and\nbathing in the Ma Oya River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n With half of the journey behind us, it’s time to see the most beautiful seascape of Sri Lanka! Let\u2019s head to Galle, a city on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. Here you can check in to the Roman Beach Hotel in Hikkaduwa, go to sleep early and look forward to the adventures of the next day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n DAY 5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Galle is known for its beaches and ancient European-style castles, which are now listed on the World Heritage Site. The best way to explore this bygone city is to slow down and have a leisurely walk, experiencing the unspeakable beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Take a leisurely stroll by the sea in the morning and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of Galle. In the afternoon, you can visit the fort of Galle, see the cultural heritage and enjoy the sunshine, beaches, coasts, and reefs. Take in the picturesque beauty of Galle. So romantic and so simple!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n DAY 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The beauty of Galle makes people linger.\nRelax and enjoy the last day in this seaside town! After breakfast, you can\ncontinue to stroll the beaches or stay in the hotel. It\u2019s time to say goodbye and fly back to Hong Kong or Guangzhou.
