Elvis impressionist to sing Friday<\/p>\n
Danny Vernon, an Elvis Presley impressionist, takes the stage 1:15 p.m. Friday at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St. The free tickets for the concert have all been distributed. But residents can get on a ticket-waiting list by calling the Senior Center starting at noon Friday at 253-856-5164.<\/p>\n
Vernon, of Milton, began his impressionist career with a performance 10 years ago at the senior center and now tours nationwide. His 45-minute concert will include inspirational patriotic and gospel songs.<\/p>\n
A spaghetti lunch is available at the Senior Center while supplies last from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Stallions to prance at ShoWare<\/p>\n
The World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions perform Saturday and Sunday at the ShoWare Center in Kent. Shows to see the snow-white “dancing” horses are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n
Tickets are $34.50 for floor seats, $30.50 for sideline seats, and $24.50 for end-zone seats. Senior citizens 60 and older and children 11 and younger receive $2 off sideline and end-zone seats. Children 2 years and younger get in for free if they sit on a parent or guardian’s lap. Group sales (for 15 or more) are available by calling 253-856-6999. The stallions are celebrated in the equine world for their performance of dressage and “high school” riding developed by the acclaimed Spanish Riding School of Vienna.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Rainier Chorale sets concert date<\/p>\n
The Kent-based Rainier Chorale singing group will present its “Broadway to Tinseltown” concert 2 p.m. June 7 at the Auburn Mountainview High School theatre, 28900 124th Avenue S.E.<\/p>\n
Tickets are $16 for general admission or $14 for senior citizens and students. Tickets are available at www.rainierchorale.org. The concert will pay tribute to the scores from musicals such as “Chicago,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Mama Mia,” “The Lion King,” “Rent” and others. The chorale will be accompanied by the Rainier Chorale band.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Ballroom dances offered on Tuesdays<\/p>\n
Ballroom dances for all ages are featured from 7:30-9:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St. The Kings of Swing provide the music the first Tuesday of the month. Either Randy Litch or Charlie and Evan Brown provide the music on the other Tuesdays. The cost is $4.
