Heavy rainfall of 2 to 5 inches could hit Kent and the rest of the region from Monday through Tuesday night, Dec. 4-5, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

City of Kent crews are prepared and will be closely monitoring roadway conditions and responding to local drainage issues if they occur, according to a city statement Monday evening.<\/p>\n

City Public Works staff advises drivers to keep your eyes on the road and be aware of the potential for pooling, water over roadways, runoff and obstructions.<\/p>\n

Drivers should not drive through flooded or closed areas. Drive safe, slow down, keep your headlights on and give yourself extra room.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service reports that the 1 to 5 inches of rain over the past three days has increased soil moisture to moderate levels across Western Washington and the threat of landslides. Heavy rainfall over the next day or two will put extra pressure on soil instability, leading to an increased threat of landslides and debris flows.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees the Howard Hanson Dam, reported Dec. 4 that the reservoir on the upper Green River is empty with storage space to reduce flood risk on the Green River in Kent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
