Vandals cut Comcast cable lines in Kent early Thursday morning, Nov. 30 causing thousands of customers to lose internet, phone and TV service.<\/p>\n
“Our network maintenance crews are actively working to replace the damaged lines and expect to get our customers back up and running between 8 and 10 p.m. this evening,” Comcast posted on its website at about 2 p.m. Nov. 30. “We know any time without service can be frustrating and appreciate our customer’s patience during this outage.”<\/p>\n
Service was lost just before 5 a.m., according to Comcast outage maps, which listed several dots where more than 2,000 customers lost connections.<\/p>\n
“The outage was caused by vandalism which is a growing challenge for internet service providers,” according to an email to the Kent Reporter from a Comcast spokesperson.<\/p>\n
Questions to the spokesperson for a specific number of how many customers were impacted or how often this has happened recently in Kent went unanswered.<\/p>\n
