The Kent Senior Activity Center offers an Outdoor Recreation program with all types of options for people ages 50 and older.<\/p>\n
People can sign up for day trips, hiking, golfing, snow sports, fishing and other activities throughout the year.<\/p>\n
In October, the Senior Center took a group took a hike at Heybrook Ridge in Snohomish County with views of Mount Index and the Skykomish Valley.<\/p>\n
“The view was incredible,” according to Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services, which oversees the program.<\/p>\n
Many of the activities have limites spots, due to transportation, so people are encouraged to sign up early through the Kent Senior Center or online at https:\/\/www.kentwa.gov\/departments\/kent-parks. Fees are required for some outings. A waitlist is sometimes started for full events.<\/p>\n
Here’s a few outings coming up:<\/p>\n
Brunch out at Black Diamond Bakery<\/strong>: 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 28<\/p>\n The historic Black Diamond Bakery has an excellent menu for either no-host breakfast or lunch. Bring money for lunch.<\/p>\n Victorian Country Christmas<\/strong>: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 29<\/p>\n Shop from over 500 vendors, and enjoy stage shows and concerts. Soak in the atmosphere of holiday music, lights and décor. Lunch is on your own. Bring money for lunch. Cost $32.<\/p>\n Winter Holiday Cookie Decorating<\/strong>: 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 12<\/p>\n Come celebrate the holidays by decorating your own personalized cookies at the Senior Center. Cookies and decorations are provided, and participants are able to purchase cookie decorating kits to take home. Contact the Kent Senior Activity Center for registration information. Cost $5.<\/p>\n Tulalip Outlet Mall and Casinos<\/strong>: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 14<\/p>\n Get some of your holiday shopping done at the Tulalip Outlet Malls. There is a large variety of shops for the people on your gift list. There will be time for a no-host lunch at either the food court at the mall or take the shuttle to the casino for lunch. If you don’t feel like shopping, we will drop you off at the casino. Cost $35. Bring money for lunch. <\/p>\n Snow Play Day<\/strong>: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 2024<\/p>\n We are going inner tubing at the Summit at Snoqualmie. You are never too old to play in the snow. After riding the hills we will have lunch out at the pass. Join us for a fun winter adventure.
