King County prosecutors have charged a Renton man identified as a high-level drug trafficker after allegedly discovering large quantities of narcotics in his possession, including approximately 41 pounds of fentanyl powder.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, Bruno Moreno-Camacho, believed to be in Washington for the sole purpose of trafficking drugs, distributed drugs in the King County area at the direction of his boss in Mexico, by his own admission.<\/p>\n
King County prosecutors charged Moreno-Camacho with two major violations of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act for possession of meth and fentanyl with intent, in addition to conspiracy to commit a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.<\/p>\n
Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico, Moreno-Camacho held an address at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Vuemont Place Northeast in Renton.<\/p>\n
At the time of his arrest, law enforcement reportedly found 41 pounds of fentanyl powder and 95 pounds of methamphetamine in his possession, totalling to $2.6 million in street value, according to court documents. The 41.8 pounds of fentanyl found in his possession held the potential to kill 10 million people.<\/p>\n
According to an affidavit of probable cause from the King County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement first received a tip regarding Moreno-Camacho from an informant.<\/p>\n
Investigation detectives surveilled Moreno-Camacho for more than a month, determining he lacked employment and held no regular pattern of life other than allegedly conducting drug trafficking activity, according to documents.<\/p>\n
Detectives conducted a controlled buy of narcotics from Moreno-Camacho in October.<\/p>\n
According to the affidavit, law enforcement arrested and booked Moreno-Camacho on Oct. 27 for investigation of violations of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors formally filed charges against Moreno-Camacho on Nov. 1.<\/p>\n
The defendant remains in jail on $100,000 bail as set by the court and requested by King County prosecutors, according to an email from Casey McNerthney, director of communications for the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.<\/p>\n
The King County Superior Court scheduled Moreno-Camacho’s arraignment for Nov. 15 at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.<\/p>\n
