Kent Reporter’s male athlete of the week of Oct. 20 is Kentwood High School senior Ryan Stamper, Cross Country.<\/p>\n
Q: What is your favorite subject\/class in school?<\/strong><\/p>\n A: Math.<\/p>\n Q: Name your Mount Rushmore (Top 4) of Movies?<\/strong><\/p>\n A: “Lord of the Rings”, “Harry Potter”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Batman”<\/p>\n Q: Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?<\/strong><\/p>\n A: My mom and dad (I couldn’t just pick one).<\/p>\n Q: You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?<\/strong><\/p>\n A: Gotta be an A&W Cream Soda and Chex mix.<\/p>\n Q: Describe your pre-game ritual<\/strong><\/p>\n A: For my pre-race ritual I like to think through my game plan for the race, why I am there, why I think I can accomplish my plan better than the last race, and visualize what that will feel like and when I will have to push through the pain while doing strides and warm up. Plus, a traditional trip to the honey bucket.<\/p>\n Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?<\/strong><\/p>\n A: Now We Are Free by Gladiator<\/p>\n From the sidelines:<\/strong> Ryan is the type of athlete that coaches all hope to have in their program. He is dedicated to the team, leads by example, and is always looking for ways to pump up team moral. This season Ryan has made amazing strides with his running, improving his time by over a minute from previous seasons. He recently finished 6th in our Kent All-City invitational, and helped lead Kentwood to a very close second place performance loosing by only 1 point, the closest margin we’ve had in years!
