Defensively, both teams put a stranglehold on each other, with neither team scoring double digit points in the period. Senior Semaj Brown scored seven of the Auburn nine points in the second quarter and had two rebounds in the quarter. The Trojans took a 21-20 halftime lead.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
Auburn continued to make it difficult on the Lancers in the second half, holding them to just 10 points. The Trojans got the spark offensively with Chandler, who hit two big threes, jolting Auburn out to what would be a nine-point lead right before the quarter ended. The Trojan led 38-30 after three quarters.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
In the fourth quarter, no Trojan would score more than three points. Luvens Valcin was that Trojan who registered a block, rebound and an assist on top of his three points in the quarter.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
Auburn had a huge task to slow down 6-foot-10 junior Jacob Cofie. The Trojans’ tallest player is Semaj Brown, who is 6-5. With that height difference, Auburn still out-rebounded the Lancers, 37-33, and held Cofie to just five points. The Trojans would help supply Brown with help via double teams throughout the game.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
“Our coaches did a great job on the scouting reports, and Semaj played a hell of a game and did everything we asked and needed him to do,” Hansen said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
Trojan senior Tyrell Nichols took it upon himself once Petty went down to take control of the game and lead his team.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
“The least I could do is go my hardest for him (Jaylen)…I had a bad game yesterday. I just had to come out here and get used to the environment a little better,” Nichols said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
