Bob Schlosser, 67, owner of Tents and Party Rents in Kent, died unexpectedly and peacefully Jan. 31 at his home in the Fairwood area of Renton, according to his family.

Schlosser would have turned 68 on Feb. 24.

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Schlosser moved to the Fairwood area of Renton in 1998. Bob and Linda Schlosser owned Castle Bridge Winery on South 180th Street in Kent then acquired Tents and Party Rents in 2012.

He immediately became an important part of the Kent community by delivering services with excellent customer service to many businesses and groups, his family said. During COVID-19 he worked with several Kent entities to provide heated canopies on restaurant patios to help them survive the pandemic.

“Bob was salt of the earth,” said Cynthia Boyd, Kent Station marketing manager, and a regular customer of Tents and Party Rents. “He was kind and always ready to help donate tables and chairs to fundraisers for local nonprofits or come up with just the right size canopy to rent for an event. He will be greatly missed.”

Survivors include his wife, Linda, and son, Zach; his mother, Rita, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and brothers and sisters Charlie, Pauline, James, Paul and Patsy as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In his spare time, Schlosser enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Mariners and Seahawks. He coached a women’s softball team and various boys baseball teams over the years.

Linda and Zach Schlosser shared that he truly enjoyed working with people, it was important to him to make sure his employees were well taken care of and he was always willing to give someone a solid chance at a job opportunity.

Bob Schlosser was also active in the Meridian Kent Kiwanis Club.

“Bob was quick with a laugh, some teasing, followed by an ‘I’m just kidding you,’” said Pat Hanis, a fellow Kiwanian. “He was optimistic and looked for a way forward, often stating, ‘We can do that.’ He was generous with his time and willing to help in the community. Time could pass without seeing each other, but Bob was a guy that you picked right back up with. He was a true, genuine, kind, good person and a wonderful man to have as a friend.”

Details for a celebration of life ceremony are to be determined.
