Mar 19, 1940 – Nov 11, 2022

Darlene Schmolke, 82, a long-time Kent resident passed away at home. She was born in Renton, to Bessie & Floyd Johnson. Darlene grew up on a farm in Cougar Mt, attending Issaquah HS, class of ‘58. She soon married Reinhard Schmolke and moved to Kent where they raised their 3 daughters.

She loved being a Mom! When the girls were a little older she went to work (part-time) for Safeway Bakery and later to Wyatt’s (owned by dear, longtime, family friends) in the old Renton Shopping Center.

Darlene had a zest for life! She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, always trying new rec- ipes but was famous for her Swedish Farmer cookies and dilly beans! Her passion was knitting and looked forward to meeting with her Tues knitting group. No one grew roses like her! Her pots and rose gardens were always beautiful! She also enjoyed her Friday shopping sprees and lunch outings with girlfriends. Sure hope there is a Chico’s in Heaven!

Darlene is survived by her husband of 66 yrs, Reinhard Schmolke; daughter, Debbie (Ed) Sblendorio; son-in-law, Paige Teichgrab; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; brother, Don Johnson and sister, Tamela VanWinkle.

Darlene was proceeded in death by her daughters, Jolene Ferong and Lanette Bergmann; her brothers, Den- nis, Duane and Dean Johnson; her parents Bessie & Floyd Johnson; grandmother Lydia Helmer.

She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
