Six South King County police agencies have partnered to host their first Diversity in Law Enforcement Career workshop on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Renton.<\/p>\n

“This free workshop aims to address the real and perceived barriers of those seeking a career in law enforcement and provide strategies to successfully navigate the hiring process,” according to a statement from the police agencies of Renton, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Tukwila and the Port of Seattle.<\/p>\n

The workshop will run from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is open to anyone 18 years or older.<\/p>\n

“We are committed to recruiting participants who reflect the diversity of South King County, such as people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, women, bilingual individuals and those with no prior law enforcement experience,” according to an agency statement.<\/p>\n

Workshop participants will begin the day with various guest speakers and then will rotate through four breakout sessions.<\/p>\n

• Oral Board interview<\/p>\n

• Benefits of the profession<\/p>\n

• Background investigations<\/p>\n

• Written & physical testing<\/p>\n

• Training and more<\/p>\n

• Check-in & continental breakfast – 8:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

• Workshop begins – 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

• Lunch – 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

• Workshop ends – 3:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
