Daughter of Edwin &#038; Blossom (Bradford) Monk. Pateros High School grad &lsquo;41; CWU grad, BA Ed &lsquo;45; editor of Central&rsquo;s Yearbook &lsquo;43; married James Mays Dec 21, &lsquo;44 Seattle; taught schools in Seattle, Auburn, &#038; Kent; PTA awarded her The Golden Acorn award &lsquo;52;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Retired to Port Orchard &lsquo;82; married Joe VanValey &lsquo;94; enjoyed being a Master Gardener, specializing in begonias &#038; fuchsias, Tops #817, knitting, &#038; her family.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>She&rsquo;s survived by brother, Edwin Monk, (Dora), son, John A Mays, &ldquo;Skip,&rdquo; (Phyllis), her late son, James S Mays, &ldquo;Sandy,&rdquo; passing nine days after her, daughters Cheryl L Crane, &ldquo;Cheri&rdquo; (Larry), &#038; Hollyann Williams, (Dan), Chris Barber (late-Mike), grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews &#038; nieces. Preceded in death James Mays, Joe VanValey, sisters Josephine Helman &#038; Judy Wade.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Services will be Sept. 17, 2022 at 1:00 PM Harper Church-10384 SE Sedgwick Rd Port Orchard, officiated by Pastor John Edgecomb.
