George Arwin Chidester, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, 2022, at Whatcom Hospice House, Bellingham, Washington, with family members at his side.<\/p>\n

George is the son of Robert Bruce Chidester and Mary Emma (DeBray) Chidester and was born on December 23, 1945, in Cut Bank, Montana where he attended St. Margaret’s Catholic School until the family moved to Spokane, Washington in 1960.<\/p>\n

George graduated from Shadle Park High School, Spokane, Washington in 1964 and the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology in 1972. He worked for the Boeing Company, Renton, Washington where he retired after a thirty year career.<\/p>\n

George had various artistic talents and enjoyed oil painting and writing prose and poetry. He taught himself to play the piano and was a voracious reader. Some of his favorite pastimes were traveling, card games, and shooting hoops with his best friend, Mike Henley.<\/p>\n

George is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bruce, and Mary Emma (DeBray) Chidester, and brother, John Marshall Chidester.<\/p>\n

He leaves behind his wife, Janet McKinnon, Victoria, BC Canada. From a previous 25-year marriage, step-daughters, Jan Marie Ethier and Vanessa Kay Chidester, Seattle, Washington; sister, Wanda L. Husman, nieces Heidi L. Husman and Stephanie C. Husman, and nephew, Bruce W. Husman, Albuquerque, NM; nephews Adam Burrows, Florida, and William Burrows, Bozeman, Montana, and nieces, Hannah Forsythe, Waco, Texas; Betty Jean Bains-Jordan, and Roseanne DeWitt, Anchorage, Alaska; and Janet’s son-in-law Richard, who kept frequent contact through telephone calls and fun sports discussions during the pandemic when visits were not possible.<\/p>\n

Interment will be in Cut Bank, Montana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
