Kent Cornucopia Day returned last weekend for the first time in three years.<\/p>\n
Thousands showed up over the July 8-10 festival to attend the street fair downtown. Other events included dragon boat races on Saturday at Lake Meridian and the Grand Parade on Sunday through downtown streets.<\/p>\n
The Kent Lions Club produced the 49th annual festival, which returned for the first time since 2019 due to COVID-19. The theme for the festival was “We’re Back and Roaring to Play.” Amazon was the presenting sponsor of the free event.<\/p>\n
As part of Seafair, Kent Cornucopia Days is South King County’s oldest and largest festival. It features a street fair with a variety of vendors from across the region, including everything from handmade jewelry and yard art to homemade sauces and 12th man-themed accessories.<\/p>\n
The Kent Cornucopia Days 5K Fun Run and Walk started and finished Saturday at the Three Friends Fishing Hole near the Green River. The fun run and walk had more than 300 participants.<\/p>\n
Jacob Fullen, 31, of Lynnwood, won the 5K in 16 minutes, 54.4 seconds. Brian Esparza, 22, of Bellingham, placed second in 17:11.3. Hiromi Conley, 62, of Kent, had the fastest female time at 22:03.9.
