Ruth was born on February 7, 1927, on a farm in Fruitland, Washington, to William and Helga (Madson) Schleer. On July 11, 1949, in Spokane, Washington, she married Carl Kenneth &ldquo;Ken&rdquo; Johnson, whom she always called &ldquo;Kenny&rdquo;. They raised two children: a son, Gene, and a daughter, Karen. The family moved to Seattle in 1965.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Louis, and her sisters Anita and Alyda.
