{"id":4213,"date":"2009-05-12T14:41:16","date_gmt":"2009-05-12T21:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/crusader-girls-take-to-french-field\/"},"modified":"2016-10-24T00:10:25","modified_gmt":"2016-10-24T07:10:25","slug":"crusader-girls-take-to-french-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/life\/crusader-girls-take-to-french-field\/","title":{"rendered":"Crusader girls take to French Field"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentcrusaders.com\">Kent Crusaders girls&#8217; rugby team<\/a> gave sports fans an exciting view into their sport May 9 at Kent&#8217;s French Field.<\/p>\n<p>Playing between halves of the Seattle Majestics women&#8217;s tackle football game, the girls demonstrated the prowess that&#8217;s led to their status for the last 10 years as Washington&#8217;s state rugby champions.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to taking the state title every year since 2000, the girl Crusaders have competed in the national tournament every year since 2000, winning the national title in 2002. They&#8217;ve also have toured Canada, New Zealand, England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p>The Crusaders girl&#8217;s team was the first high school girls&#8217; rugby team in the nation, established in 1993.<\/p>\n<p>The Crusaders also have a boys&#8217; team that has been playing since 1991, and which has taken seven Pacific Northwest championships, in addition to playing in the national championship nearly every year since 1993.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of the Crusaders&#8217; is teaching athletes the game of rugby while instilling a spirit of teamwork, good sportsmanship, scholastic achievement and community involvement.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the Crusaders program, go to  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentcrusaders.com\">www.kentcrusaders.com.<\/a><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Kent Crusaders girls&#8217; rugby team gave sports fans an exciting view into their sport May 9 at Kent&#8217;s French Field.
