Darlene Thompson, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 23, 2018. Darlene was born in Auburn, Washington to Jens and Opal Anderson on August 14th, 1941. She married James Thompson in August of 1961, and together they raised their two children in Colorado, Oregon and Arizona.

She is survived by her loving husband Jim, her daughter Lisa and granddaughter Alexis of Palominas, AZ and her son Clark (K’Anne) and grandson Silas of Rosharon, TX. Also surviving are her brother, J. Martin (Lynn) Anderson and her sister Marlene (Ron) Benson, and many extended family members.

Darlene had a strong faith, and a cheerful outlook on life. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church in every place that she lived. With her friends in the quilting groups she helped make hundreds of charity quilts. She loved her family and friends with a generous heart. She also loved birds, traveling, skiing, counted cross-stitch, sudoku, jigsaw puzzles, reading great books, and a nice cup of tea.

Darlene’s life was celebrated with services at Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista on January 5th at 11:00am. Her wish was to have her ashes released over the mountains near the beautiful home she and her husband designed and built together at the base of the Huachuca Mountains. Her wish was fulfilled during a private family ceremony later on that afternoon.

A memory garden has been prepared near her home; gifts of potted plants, bulbs, seeds, birdfeeders or birdseed will lovingly honor her memory for years to come.
