{"id":36406,"date":"2018-08-24T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-24T16:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/letters\/cost-of-living-seniors-can-obtain-some-tax-relief\/"},"modified":"2018-08-24T09:30:00","modified_gmt":"2018-08-24T16:30:00","slug":"cost-of-living-seniors-can-obtain-some-tax-relief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/letters\/cost-of-living-seniors-can-obtain-some-tax-relief\/","title":{"rendered":"Cost of living: Seniors can obtain some tax relief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gene Bremner, food for thought: I&rsquo;m a senior in the city limits of Kent, and my property taxes were cut in half when I applied for tax relief for low-income seniors and disabled persons.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s available to those 61 years and older, with an income of $40,000 or less.<\/p>\n<p>I wouldn&rsquo;t exactly call that &ldquo;under the bus.&rdquo; If you want to complain, I&rsquo;d suggest you discuss the Kent City Council&rsquo;s decision not to join the rest of Washington state &#8211; with a few exceptions &#8211; to refuse to allow the sale of marijuana within our city limits.
