I have been reading with a sense of bewilderment the letter to the editor supporting Jim Berrios for mayor. It mentions the City Council’s massive failure in fully vetting the par 3 golf course and the illegal sale at Pine Tree. Mr. Berrios voted for both of these projects.

Reading the amendment that allowed developer tax breaks, it was supposed to be in the downtown core. The golf course is in downtown? Watching Mr. Berrios pout when he thought he was left out of a conversation during the open council vote on the par 3 course was disturbing. We do not need a Trump-like Mayor.

While Dana Ralph voted against these bills, she was neither forceful nor persuasive enough to get these matters put on hold.

We need progressive leadership before this city becomes just a sad reminder of what it used to be. While I appreciate a new voice like Andrew Swansen, I believe that Elizabeth Albertson is the clear choice for a progressive Kent that governs smart, not just slapping “for sale” signs on city-owned property.

Speaking of signs, please just don’t vote for someone just because they have a lot of large signs out and about. Do a little homework and vote for who you think will lead Kent forward.
