Kennewick, WA February 7, 2009 – The Tri-City Americans defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-1 Saturday night at Toyota Center in Kennewick.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds finish out the weekend against the Vancouver Giants on Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center. The game can be seen in the Puget Sound region on FSN.<\/p>\n

Seattle (24-27-1-3) took a 1-0 lead at 15:52 of the first period on a goal by Thomas Hickey. Hickey crossed into the Americans zone from right to left and dropped the puck to Chris Cloud. Cloud skated into the right circle and then crossed the puck back to Hickey at the left post. Hickey redirected the puck past Tri-City goalie Chet Pickard for his 12th goal of the year. Luke Lockhart had the second assist on the goal.<\/p>\n

Tri-City (37-15-0-1) outshot Seattle 13-9 in the first period.<\/p>\n

Tri-City tied the game 1-1 at 9:42 of the second period on a goal by Mitch Fadden. Jason Reese and Johnny Lazo had the assists.<\/p>\n

The Americans went ahead 2-1 at 12:09 of the second on a power-play goal by Brett Plouffe. Lane Werbowski and Kruise Reddick were credited with assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

Fadden scored an unassisted four-on-four goal at 13:48 of the second to give the Americans a 3-1 lead.<\/p>\n

Fadden scored a second four-on-four goal at 14:46 of the second to get a hat trick and put the Americans on front 4-1. Jarrett Toll had the only assist on the goal.<\/p>\n

The Americans outshot the T-Birds 10-8 in the second period and led 23-17 in total shots after two periods.<\/p>\n

Fadden, Reddick and Mason Wilgosh (shorthanded) all scored goals in the third period to increase the Americans lead to six goals.<\/p>\n

Tri-City outshot Seattle 11-8 in the third period and 35- 28 in the game.<\/p>\n

Seattle goalie Jacob DeSerres started the game and stopped all 14 shots he saw before coming out of the game at the 8:59 mark of the second period.<\/p>\n

Calvin Pickard replaced DeSerres and made 14 saves on 21 shots and his record is now 13-11-1-3.<\/p>\n

Chet Pickard got the win by stopping 27 of 28 shots. His record is now 26-11-0-3.<\/p>\n
