Charles H. Harkins

Charles H. Harkins went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, June 11, 2009 at the age of 85. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 9, 1924 to Charles and Anita Harkins, brother to, Harold Harkins Clarence Harkins, Paul Torgerson, Pearl Boldenow, Bruce Torgerson and survived by Marian, his loving and devoted wife of 64 years.Together they lovingly raised 9 children, Sandra Sinclair, Linda Johnson, Lois Stanley, Kathleen Harkins, Kristine Wanzer, Charles M. Harkins, Leroy Harkins, Robert Harkins and Anita Dorrough and was always there for their 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He founded a cabinet shop that he ran for close to 50 years, while still somehow finding time for fishing, hunting, camping, rock hounding, gardening and square dancing. He was a man of great honor and integrity, who served in the Marines in WWII, receiving two purple hearts, a sobering example of selflessness and a mentor to all who knew him.His wry smile and gentle touch will be sorely missed, yet his love is forever stamped on many hearts. Viewing will be held Sunday, June 21, noon to 4:00 pm.A loving memorial gathering will be held at Edline-Yahn, 27221 156th Ave SE, Kent, WA (www.Eycfc.com) Monday, June 22, 11:00 am and a full military graveside service at 1:30 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA. – Semper Fi (Always Faithful)
