The Seattle Mist, a Lingerie Football League team that will play in Kent this fall, ran through a series of drills at their minicamp Wednesday at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila (more photos).

About 20 fans, mainly friends and family, showed up to watch the practice led by coach Rob Long. Photographers and reporters from a couple of television stations and newspapers attended Media Day at the minicamp.

Although organizers touted a “meet and greet” event with fans afterward, it didn’t happen, for reasons that were unexplained.

Most of the Mist players were selected at a tryout last fall in Seattle. The team has a roster of 12 with another six or so players on an inactive roster in case someone needs to be replaced because of injury.

The Mist open their four-game season Sept. 11 against the San Diego Seduction at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

As the name entails, the Lingerie Football League features players decked out in pads and lingerie, playing tackle football.

The league has drawn considerable discussion from the Kent area, from people against having such an organization playing at the city’s ShoWare Center, as well as people who say they’re planning to buy a ticket to a game.
