The Kent Downtown Partnership poured on the fun at the annual Wine, Women, Wow! event Friday night at the ShoWare Center as more than 500 people showed up for an evening of good food, good times and good wine.

This year’s event, the fourth and first hosted at the city’s new arena, drew nearly twice as many attendees as last year’s event, according to event chair Libby Seidel of the KDP.

“It was great” Seidel said. “We sold a lot of extra glasses.”

According to Seidel, lines began to form outside the ShoWare Center at 5 p.m., and hour before doors were opened.

Inside, 65 vendors spread around the arena floor and a line formed for wine brought in from the woman-owned Olympic Cellars Winery in Port Angeles. According to Seidel, at the end of the evening, only a single case of wine remained and it was quickly purchased by a pair of patrons.

Seidel said both event-goers and vendors were excited about the night and were already talking to her about coming back next year.

This year’s event was so popular, in fact, that 20 vendors had to be placed on a waiting list.

“I think the word is out there and people want to be a part of it,” Seidel said.

Seidel said the larger forum provided by the ShoWare center made a huge difference from previous events at Green River Community College at Kent Station.

Seidel also complimented the decorating, handled by ShoWare, calling it “classy.”

“Not a doubt in my mind, we will go back next year,” she said, adding “We’re starting to look forward to next year already.”
