Classical KING FM is reminding the Northwest\u2019s young musicians of the deadline to enter its second-annual Ten Grands Young Artist Awards, Jan. 14.<\/p>\n

KING FM\u2019s Ten Grands Young Artist Awards celebrates the talented youth of the Northwest who are pursuing their dreams in music. Youth between the ages of 6 and 18 who are non-professional acoustic instrumentalists, vocalists, or in an ensemble, and reside in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho, are invited to submit a 5-minute YouTube video showcasing their talents.<\/p>\n

The Top Ten Finalists will participate in the Ten Grands Concert April 1 with the first-place winner earning a place as featured soloist center stage in Seattle’s own breathtaking Benaroya Hall. The grand prize also includes a $1,000 scholarship from KING FM.<\/p>\n

Additional contest details include:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 All performers must be between the ages of 6 & 18 as of March 1, 2011, and legally reside in Washington State, Oregon, or Idaho.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 To be eligible for the competition, contestants must be available to perform at the Ten Grands Concert at Benaroya Hall on April 1, 2011.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Entrants may use an accompanist. Non-acoustic music performances will not be accepted.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Entries will be judged on total performance, not by the technical quality of video.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 There will be a round of public voting starting Jan. 17, in which the top 20 videos will be featured on KING.org.<\/p>\n

The top ten finalists will play at the Ten Grands concert at Benaroya Hall. The grand-prize winner will give a 6-minute-or-less solo performance. Other selected finalists will perform as a group on stage and in the lobby before the concert and at intermission.<\/p>\n

Entries will be judged in phases:<\/p>\n

1. Jan. 14: all entries are due<\/p>\n

2. Jan. 31: judging panel selects 20 semi-finalists from all entries.<\/p>\n

3. Feb. 7: semi-finalist videos will be posted online for a public vote.<\/p>\n

4. March 1: top 10 winners will be announced.<\/p>\n
