ASSAULT<\/p>\n

Police arrested a 30-year-old woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she reportedly threw a pop can that hit her boyfriend in the back, then punched him several times in the face.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at about 2:42 a.m. Nov. 6 as the woman and her boyfriend, also 30, walked along the street in the 22000 block of 84th Avenue South, according to the police report.<\/p>\n

Officers had responded to witnesses at the scene.<\/p>\n

The boyfriend, who officers noted had a bloody lip and blood on his shirt, told officers that his girlfriend did not hit him, but that he had punched himself in the face.<\/p>\n

The girlfriend also denied that she punched her boyfriend. She said they had argued at home and she left to take her dog on a walk on a leash. The boyfriend followed her, she said, and grabbed the dog from her.<\/p>\n

Two witnesses told officers that they saw the woman throw a pop can at the man and then punch him several times in the face.<\/p>\n

The report did not indicate what the girlfriend and boyfriend had been arguing about.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

DRUGS<\/p>\n

Kent Police cited two men, ages 25 and 32, Nov. 8 for investigation of marijuana possession.<\/p>\n

A 25-year-old man told officers he used marijuana to help him sleep. A 32-year-old man told officers he used the drug to help alleviate headaches.<\/p>\n

Police spotted the two men at about 8:28 p.m. Nov. 8 seated in a van at a bar parking lot in the 500 block of Washington Avenue North.<\/p>\n

An officer approached the van because it sat near the back of a rear parking lot even though the lot was nearly empty.<\/p>\n

The officer said he smelled marijuana as soon as one of the men rolled down a van window.<\/p>\n

When asked if they had marijuana, one of the men responded, \u201cWe haven\u2019t smoked it yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both men admitted to using marijuana daily. officers reportedly found small handfuls of marijuana on each man, as well as a baggie of marijuana in the van.<\/p>\n

Police cited the men for investigation of possession of marijuana and released them.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

THEFT<\/p>\n

A store employee refused to sell cigarettes to a 22-year-old man because of his unusual behavior inside the store, so the man began to bang on the counter, yelled, grabbed a pack of cigarettes off the shelf and a lighter. He then left the store without paying for the items.<\/p>\n

Police arrived to find the man smoking a cigarette outside of the store at about 5:27 a.m. Nov. 6 in the 15200 block of Southeast 272nd Street, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Officers arrested the man for investigation of third-degree theft.<\/p>\n

The man told officers he \u201crobbed them (the store) for cigarettes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The store clerk told police the man reached over the counter to pull a bunch of cigarette packs off the shelves before taking the pack he wanted as well as a lighter. The cigarettes were valued at $7.35 and the lighter at $1.30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
