Highline Community College’s Marine Science and Technology (MaST) Center celebrates two special occasions on Saturday, June 15 \u2013 its fifth birthday and annual octopus graduation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Festivities begin at noon at the center, located on Redondo Beach Drive, next door to Salty’s, at 28203 Redondo Beach Drive S., Des Moines.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Scarlet, the MaST Center’s Giant Pacific Octopus, will “graduate” and be released back into the Puget Sound with a dive team and underwater, interactive video.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The release will occur at noon and be broadcast via streaming online videos and live at the MaST Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Cake and light refreshments will be served as a part of the birthday celebration following the release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Arrive early for best viewing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
