Assault

A fight between two Kent women had to be broken up by two other women May 13 at an apartment in the 22100 block of 35th Place South.

Kent Police arrested one woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she allegedly punched another woman in the face before mutual friends broke up the fight, according to the police report.

Police also cited a second woman for investigation of provoking assault, because she reportedly continued to challenge the first woman to come outside and continue the fight because she was upset at being punched. Police said the second woman had a cut lip.

The incident started when the first woman returned home and found the second woman visiting mutual friends in the apartment. The first woman told police that she no longer is friends with the second woman and told her to get out of the apartment.

When the second woman started to leave, she reportedly said something under her breath, and the first woman punched her, according to the report.

Drugs

Kent bicycle officers spotted a man only partially visible sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked at about 8:30 p.m. May 13 in a parking lot in the 900 block of West James Street.

When the officers approached the vehicle to investigate, they spotted a pop can on its side, in the center console. The can had been dented near the bottom with burnt residue in the dent, according to the police report. Pop cans can be converted for use as marijuana-smoking devices, according to the report.

The officers also smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Police cited the man for possession of drug paraphernalia and released him. They told the man he would receive a court date in the mail.

Theft

Police arrested a man for investigation of third-degree theft after he reportedly took produce and several other items May 11 from a store in the 10200 block of Southeast 240th Street.

Store security saw the man take a re-useable shopping bag and place the veggies and other items in the bag. The man then left the store with no attempt to pay for the items, according to the police report.

When store employees started to approach the man outside the store, he started to run before security personnel stopped him and handcuffed him. The man reportedly had broken into the same store in 2005. Police booked the man into the Kent Jail.

Trespass

Police arrested a man for investigation of second-degree criminal trespass after he reportedly entered a fenced parking lot May 15 of a business in the 23600 block of 30th Avenue South.

A witness told police he saw the man climb a fence to get out of the parking lot and run into a nearby mobile-home park, according to reports. Signs that read “No trespassing” were posted at the lot.

Police located the man near the mobile-home park. The man told police he had never entered the fenced area. He said he was just drinking beer with his buddies.
