{"id":9210,"date":"2012-10-01T11:49:22","date_gmt":"2012-10-01T18:49:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/green-river-trail-in-kent-open-to-bicyclists\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T12:35:37","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T19:35:37","slug":"green-river-trail-in-kent-open-to-bicyclists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/green-river-trail-in-kent-open-to-bicyclists\/","title":{"rendered":"Green River Trail in Kent open to bicyclists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Bicyclists can again use the Green River Trail in Kent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>A city contractor removed all of the giant sandbags and finished patching parts of the paved trail damaged by the sandbags.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The orange signs that told people the trail is closed to bicycles are scheduled to be removed this week, according to city officials.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Bicyclists were banned from the trail because the sandbags covered nearly half of the path in many areas.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The city placed the sandbags three years ago for extra flood protection while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers repaired a damaged abutment next to the Howard Hanson Dam on the upper Green River.
