Three doors down from his original location, Wade Schwartz found a better spot to showcase his salon.

His five-year-old business – Blanc ‘n Schwartz Salon – now embraces a newly remodeled space at the corner of East Meeker Street and Railroad Avenue North – a more welcoming place for customers.

When the corner suite opened up, Schwartz jumped at the chance to grab it.

“The visibility and the natural light are incredible,” Schwartz said during a grand opening celebration of his full-service salon on a sun-splashed Thursday last week. “And we get to see more people.”

The suite, at 201 E. Meeker St., spans close to 1,500 square feet, about 500 square feet larger than the salon’s previous location. The added floor space, Schwartz said, makes way for three more hair stylist stations and room for a massage therapist.

“I want to have more of a retail-ish building here … and it’s great to have Wade and Billy (Walters) who are great business people,” said Joe Simmons, the property owner.

Added Mayor Suzette Cooke, who appeared at the ribbon cutting: “Kent is a wonderful place to do business … and we’re so pleased to have Wade and Billy.”

Schwartz wanted to remain committed to downtown Kent and promote business locally.
