Kentwood High School seniors Lavanne Whitman and Joel Wadagnolo are the Kent Rotary Students of the Week, for their achievements in career and technology programs.<\/p>\n

Whitman is the daughter of Cindy and Kevin Swett of Kent.<\/p>\n

Her achievements include participation in her school\u2019s FBLA chapter in 2007 and 2008, and attendance in the FBLA conference in 2008.<\/p>\n

She also has functioned as a student assistant for program and staff development, is currently an ASB senior class officer, has participated in the 30-Hour Famine, raised puppies for Canine Companions for Independence and has been involved for two years in the Conk Crew program.<\/p>\n

She plans to attend Washington State University in Pullman, where she will major in accounting, so that she may become a certified public accountant.<\/p>\n

Wadagnolo is the son of Ed and Marylou Wadagnolo of Covington.<\/p>\n

His school activities related to technical programs include multiple courses in Java and computer applications, as well as Web design.<\/p>\n

Also in school he volunteered for a week his junior year at Panther Lake Elementary, to help students with an after-school program called Century 21. It was there that he assisted with a variety of computer-related activities for students.<\/p>\n

Outside of school, Wadagnolo has worked for Pacific Edge Photography since 2006, inputting picture orders.<\/p>\n

Wadagnolo plans to attend WSU and major in computer science. He hopes to pursue a career in computer science, possibly in computer games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
